Our friend Michael Tabtabai from Leave It On The Road invited us to ride the route after work when we visited #PDX in October 2014. We knew it was special and as we hit the climb up Thurman St. to the Forest Park entrance, our anticipation grew as the road pitched up.
We passed the park gate, started up Leif Erikson, and a smile came across our face. We knew. With each passing turn, the tarmac of gravel, stones, mud, and leaves got more RAD. The ferns, The trees. The stone walls. The Fire Roads and trails. Wildwood Trail zigzagging throughout. We were blown away.
So much so, that we squeezed in a second early morning solo ride the day we left. We finished in a cloud at the top and then dive-bombed it all the way back to Thurman. AMAZING.
This Ethiopian coffee is our homage to the Leif Erikson Dr. / Saltzman Rd. climb, Forest Park, the City of Portland, and all of the #RAD people that make #PDX special. #PDXPeepsRULE
Ride your bike. Drink great coffee.
